Keeping Children Safe in Education/Working together to Safeguard Children

Mappleborough Green follows the Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance from the Department for Education when carrying out our duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.  Working together to Safeguard Children outlines the need for an interagency approach to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children.

Safeguarding

At Mappleborough Green Primary School the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.    Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility!

The Governor for Safeguarding is contactable through the school office.

We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware through our Protective Behaviour Programme that we all have the right to feel safe all the time and  we can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small .

At Mappleborough Green Primary School, the safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority and the responsibility of our entire community. All staff are trained to look out for signs of physical or emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), in line with our adopted Child Protection Policy.

On occasion, our concerns about a child may mean we must consult with other agencies. We will always ensure that concerns are discussed with parents/carers first, before any referrals are made, unless we believe that doing so might be contrary to the child's welfare.

We encourage all parents and visitors with any safeguarding concerns about a member of our school community to speak to a member of our dedicated safeguarding team immediately and without hesitation. You can find our Designated Safeguarding Leads and their contact details above.
Please note that for the safety of everyone on site, all visitors must sign in at the main office, wear a provided badge at all times whilst on the school site, and sign out upon leaving.

Child Protection Policy and Practice

Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding, roles and responsibilities of all adults that work with children in our school and detailed practice guidance.  This policy is available below.  Alternatively, a hard copy can be requested through the school office.
