COMPUTING

Our Commitment to Lifelong Learning

At Mappleborough Green Primary School, our mission is to inspire children to become lifelong learners with a passion for exploration and inquiry. We achieve this by fulfilling all statutory educational requirements while providing rich, purposeful learning opportunities that extend beyond the core curriculum.

Preparing for a Digital Future

Technology is a vital and growing part of our daily lives. Our goal is to ensure all children are fully prepared for the digital world they will inherit. It is essential that we educate pupils on how to use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly. We provide access to high-quality hardware and software, supported by a structured and progressive curriculum that builds effective digital skills. We use the carefully selected Purple Mash Computing scheme, which has been adapted to meet our school’s specific needs.

Curriculum Structure

Our computing curriculum is structured around three core strands: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Literacy. We employ a "spiral curriculum" approach, where each of these strands is revisited and built upon within every unit, increasing in complexity as pupils progress. This ensures comprehensive and balanced coverage of all areas of the subject.
